He was a real estate attorney with a prominent firm that placed high demands on him. Every night, he’d review contracts while watching TV with us. Weekends often included quick stops by the office to pick up more paperwork to take home. However, despite dad’s workaholic nature and serious demeanor, dad knew how to let it all go the moment he departed on a vacation. Dad loved to travel and he knew how to do it right with no distractions from the office!

In fact, in 1985, dad won the trifecta at his office – the most hours billed, the largest billables, AND the most vacation days taken by any firm employee.
Unfortunately, later in life, just a year before his planned 50-year retirement from the firm, dad got incredibly bad news. He was diagnosed with an extremely debilitating disease much like ALS where he knew it was only a matter of time before he would lose control over his own body – no longer able to walk, feed himself or even speak coherently.,
